Christmas tree fiasco

our first tree this year lasted 10 days. we chewed lights, pulled wires off branches, destroyed some ornaments, and turned the tree 180 degrees. man, that tree was toast! Mommy had to go buy a new tree. it is up on a table where we can't get at it.

celery

mommy was cutting up celery for some soup the other day and we were begging as usual. so she shared some with us ( aka GAVE IN to our begging). Rufus and Angus thought it was pretty tasty and super crunchy. Pugsly slept thru it. I, Uff-Da, aka the picky eater, put one piece in my mouth and decided it was not up to par. so I spit it out, one of the puppies then ate that piece (they're not picky, they'll even eat doggy doo doo). As soon as Mommy started cutting up the chicken I started begging in earnest. I even put my paws up on the edge of the tv tray. She gave all of us 1 piece of totally yummy chicken. all of us puggs went nuts after just one bite of chicken, so Mommy stopped giving us anymore treats. maybe tonight we'll get some mixed vegetables with our doggy chow for dinner!

the twins strike again

Dad left the box of matches under the tv again. While he and Mom were at the chiropractor's Angus and Rufus got the match box out, slid it open, took all the matches out & strew them all over the living room floor. Not a single match was chewed up. The box the matches were in was not chewed up. pretty talented and mischevious little boys don't you think? Gotta love them, after all they are Pugs!

another dog bed destroyed

well the twins, Rufus and Angus, have managed to destroy ANOTHER dog bed. this is the 4th one! the poor bed only lasted 48 hours. this time they actually unzipped the zipper all the way, and pulled the orthopedic foam cushion out of the cover! kinda amazing when you think about it, that two little one year old pups were able to work together like that. Still, poor Pusly is now having to sleep on a pillow. so far they have done nothing to the pillow, not even take it out of the pillow case, and it's been 4 days.
2 days after the bed incident, they destroyed a box of matches, then went and woke Mom up at 3 am to tell her about it! Mom is hopping the terrible 2s have just struck early for them.

new park

we went to a new doggy park in Tacoma on Sat. it was Rufus and Angus's first time ever at a dog park, boy did they have fun! Even I had a good experience, I even sniffed some other dogs. the last time i went to a dog park i was only a puppy and got chased by some big dogs, not fun at all. There were only a few other dogs there. Pugsly kept busy sniffing all over the park. Rufus and Angus had fun chasing balls with the other dogs we met there. Mom and Dad even bought us french fries to eat that day... yummy!

we have positively identified the Mouser in the House-O-Pugs

Last night Rufus was standing over his latest catch/kill. This time it was a rat..... ugh! Thankfully all he does is kill the pests and bring them to us, no munching involved. Mom is going to call the vet to see if he needs anymore shots. too bad we live near some fields and those pests are looking for somewere warm for the winter I guess. it doesn't seem as if summer has really arrived except for maybe 5 days this year. Mom is still wearing sweaters, using the heaters at work, heavy blankets at night (we love the blankies, good for snuggling). this WA weather is for the birds or fish.
btw Mom's daughter and son-in-law were able to get insurance and Nikki (her daughter) is now on seizure meds.
only 2 more weeks until Mom goes to FL to see her kids and grandson. this time she's flying by herself, everyone else is staying home. she'll also get to her her new grand-puppy, a little girl. she's debating on whether to get her a little dress or puppy chewing toys. any suggestions?

we have a mouser in the house

today I was scratching at the back door for Dad to let me back in. One of the twins had a very recently caught dead mouse in his mouth! and he was trying to bring it inside the house! keep him away from me please. I tried telling him that us pugs are not to catch mice, that's what cats are for, and ucky things like that do not belong in the house. But would he listen to me? nope. Dad took the mouse away and threw it away. Here's hoping there's no more mouse catching by the twins!

sad news

our human sister who lives in Florida which is way way way faraway from Washington state, was just diagnosed with a mild seizure disorder. they don't know what is causing it. she doesn't have insurance. keep your paws crossed that she will be able to qualify for state insurance now. please send lots of juju her way. Mommy's pretty worried, she can't get down there until August.

hmmm what is that smell?

what is that delicious new smell? can you open the package so we can get a better sniff? mmmmmm peaches.
Our Mommy's step-daughter, Donna, sells scentsy. it is pretty good covering the "doggy smell" of a multi pug household. especially right now while the puppies are going thru a case of the doggy diahrea. check out her website and facebook page!

sniffs galore

We went to a park today! It's real close to our home so we'll get to go back often. There were lots of things to sniff, I marked several trees, had to let the other dogs know that Uff-Da had been there. We saw birds, kids, joggers. Everyone passed on eating any poop which made Mom and Dad happy. And no one pooped, so Mom didn't have to use the poop-bags she had shuffed in her pocket. The park has a paved trail with two loops. We met a nice lady who using a walker on the trail. It's nice to know that parks are starting to be accessible to more people.

looking for new harnesses

Angus and Rufus are finally big enough to wear harnesses. Does anyone know a good place to order from or go buy them at? We live near Tacoma, WA.

Thanks,

Angus got BUSTED

This morning Angus walked by Mommy a couple of times and brushed against her legs. Something felt a little weird so Mommy called him back, he tried to hide behind the recliners, but no such luck. He was carrying Daddy's glasses! Daddy picked up the glasses and took a better look and they are toast. Angus chewed them up pretty good this time. Daddy is going to have to buy a new pair, luckily he has an old pair to wear. Mommy asked Daddy where he had left them, Daddy said on the bookcase. Mommy said that the only safe place in the living room is on the TV, remember? Too bad Daddy has memory problems. Luckily we are pretty cute!

guess what I can do

Today I showed Mommy that I, the almighty Uff-Da, can open the kitchen garbage can! All I have to do is stand up on my back paws and put one front paw on the push button on top of the trash can and WAH-LAH the lid magically opens! The downside is that Mommy decided that she had better empty the trash can before I could get any goodies out of it. bummer.
Mommy and Daddy are running out of places to move their things up high so we can't reach them. We are pretty creative and dedicated when it comes to getting into things, after all we are pugs.

Oh, it's ok to leave comments on our blog, we love to read them and then to visit your blog in return.

mr Mouse part 2

Mommy found the missing part to Mr Mouse. Once of the puppies had taken it OUTSIDE and then brought it back in and put it on the floor in front of her recliner. Unfortunately it was a little too chewed up to be put back together so Mommy will have to go shopping for a new mouse.

Our Prius came home from the car doctor, it was a long 2 weeks getting fixed. A Marine recruiter rear-ended Mommy's Prius while she was on her way home from work. Mommy's ok, a little sore, and will be going to someone called a chiropractor for a while.

Daddy's birthday dinner

Mommy got her days mixed up and thought yesterday was June 5, silly Mommy, she needs to look at a calendar next time :) anyways, Jacob, Donna and her son, and DD were are here for the birthday dinner. We had a blast playing with the grandson, he's the older of Mommy's and Daddy's two grandsons. we, Uff-Da, Angus, Rufus, and the grandson, had SO MUCH fun running around in the backyard!!! Mommy hopes to be able to post pics but needs to get the ok from the grandson's mommy first. We fell asleep soon after they left we were so worn out.
Mommy stayed home from church today as she is on pain meds and muscle relaxors due to her car accident. someone rear ended her and pushed her into the truck in front of her on Wed evening. she didn't think it would be a good example to the 7 and 8 year olds in her sunday school class if their teacher was "acting strange"/under the influence. so she got a substitute and stayed home. her prius as $6100 estimated worth of damage. the car rental place gave her a SUV to drive, YUCK! It was either that or a mini van and the suv got better gas mileage. she is used to it costing $25 to fill up and thought that was high, she about died when she had to fill up the SUV. keep your paws crossed that it doesn't take more than 2 weeks to fix the prius.

Mr Mouse

Mommy left her computer and Mr Mouse on a tv tray since she was running a virus scan and told Daddy to close the computer when it was done (he didn't). When Daddy went to the store or took a nap, someone who shall remain nameless, got ahold of Mommy's mouse and did this to it:

Luckily Mr mouse still works but Mommy hasn't found the missing piece yet and the guilty party or parties won't show her where it was hidden. Mommy keeps saying that she is going to get us crates as we can't be trusted when we are alone. Bummer.

Today is Daddy's birthday, one of his daughters, grandson, and hopefully his son are coming over for dinner. That means that it is time to PLAY BALL with Luke!!!!!

weekly highlights

Angus jumped over the baby gate to get to the dog food.
The four of us managed to get the lid off the peanut butter jar and were having a feast when Daddy walked into the kitchen and took it away....the nerve of him!
The puppies started eating Mommy's daytimer, leather is tasty you know.
Mommy's been working a crazy work schedule, going to work at 3 pm, ugh! but she will have a 3 day weekend soon....lot of play and naps for us!

Hi everyone

Mommy says we've been behaving lots better lately, especially Rufus and me. Rufus is the alpha-wanna-be who kept challenging me and of course everyone knows that I, Uff-Da, am the real-alpha-in-the-house. So needless to say we were having some knock down drag outs that ended with Daddy being bitten when he was trying to break up our fights. Mommy finally got it through our thick skulls that she and Daddy are the alphas..... the spray bottle helped. Mommy and Daddy were laughing at us yesterday.....I was butt-bumping Rufus and he had this really confused look on his face. All i wanted to do was play and he just didn't get it...what a dufus! I hope he catches onto how to play this game soon, it's my favorite. I used to play it all the time with Pugsly until he started spending all his time laying in the doggy bed.
Dinner time is much calmer too, I'm not going psycho puppy on the other pugs now. Pugsly and Angus get fed in the doggy pen where they can eat slower, Rufus eats in the kitchen, and I eat in the living room by the water bowl. Everyone is happy with this arrangement. It's too bad we can't have a family dinner, but we do have family time afterwards.

Mommy and Daddy are STILL trying to get Angus and Rufus house-trained. Does anyone have any suggestions? the boys do better on days it is sunny outside and worse on days that it is rainy. Please help!

sorry it's been a while

Mom's been busy with her other blog lately, then Dad was put in the hospital for a few days. Dad is home now and is doing MUCH better.
Pugsly has been licking his legs again so Mom will probabally put the cone back on him.

they're home!

Mom, Dad, and DD are finally HOME! We had fun with Jacob and kept him bus. Mom is still trying to figure out how we ate an entire big bag of dog food in 8 days. She thinks we were being fed twice a day.

This morning Angus brought a WORM into the house, it was pretty big. He didn't chew it, or hurt it in any way. Dad confiscated the worm and put it back outside where he said it belonged.

I've started teaching Rufus how to butt bump and he's starting to use the move on Angus. Way to go Rufus.

ESCAPE!

Well today Mom decided to finally bring in the case of copy paper from her car. It was about time as it had been in there for about a MONTH. Mom's a procrastinator if you hadn't guessed. Anyways....while she was trying to carry it in the front door Angus, Rufus and I, otherwise known as the Triad, saw our opportunity to escape. We ran as a group, just a larger pattern of our evening run thru the house around the furniture, only this time we ran from house to house. Mom and Dad were chasing us in their church clothes. It was pretty funny and a lot of fun (for us)until Mom caught Angus. We then decided we better listen to Mom and Dad and get back into the house. All was well until they noticed that Pugsly was nowhere to be found! Turns out that Dad had left the front door open when he was out helping Mom try to catch us. Luckily Pugsly hadn't gotten far and Dad carried him home. We got the lecture about how it is dangerous to run out front, how we could have been hit by a car, and that that is what our big back yard is for (to run around in). Here's a picture of our back yard.

We love it when any apples and plums fall from the trees....yummy!
Well, I'm going to go lay by the wood stove.

This, that, and other things

Hi, I'm Pugsly. I thought I'd take a turn at posting today, after all I am the senior pug in this household. Warning: since I'm a pretty old my thoughts do wander and jump all over the place. I've been sitting on Mom's lap more and when I do the other 3 pugs decide that they need to sit there also. Needless to say it can get pretty crowded in her recliner! ....it's starting to get pretty windy outside.... Angus and Rufus had their first all day vet appointment on Monday. They both weigh a little over 13 lbs now. On their report cards the vet wrote that Angus was a sweet boy and Rufus is a flirt. I'm glad that they behaved for the vet and are in good health.
Meal times.... When we get fed I get put in the pen where the other pugs can't get to my food since I eat slower. I'm fine with this arrangement, it keeps me from getting upset and I get to eat all of my dinner. The problem is with Uff-Da. Mom and Dad space each of the other food bowls by several feet but Uff-Da will go psycho pug and charge and attack the nearest pug even though he hasn't done anything. The puppies have learned to not go near him while he is eating. He used to attack me. Does anyone have any advice for my parents? It's upsetting when he does this as they know that he is really a good boy.

Yukon Gold Potatoes Escapade

Yesterday Mommy made the big time mistake of putting the 5 lb bag of potatoes on a shelf where us pugs could get to them while they were at church. Mommy had made a yummy stew and only used 3 potatoes out of the sack. When they got home the sack was EMPTY, there were a few potatoes scattered around the house (easter egg hunt anyone?), and all of us had very full tummys! Boy they sure tasted good, we didn't want to wait for Mommy to give us our vegetable treat. After all, we are self-sufficient pugs. Rufus and Angus can hardly wait until DD plants her tomatoes this year. Now we are all pooping potatoes.....literally. Guess we got our weekly dose of fiber :)
More later.

Mommy's grandson was born on Valentine's Day. His name is Michael, Mikey for short. He weighed 7 lbs 1 oz and is 20 inches long.

peanutbutter...yummers!

Sorry it's been so long between posts. Mommy's been sick and she's the one with the thumbs. Anyways, the otherday Daddy was eating a really yummy peanutbutter sandwich. So Mommy decided that all of us boys deserved a treat and so she spread peanutbutter on plates for each of us! We were kept busy licking for 15 to 20 min.

Then last night we had a sleep-over in the living room. Mommy and Daddy each got a blanket and settled down in their recliners and we hopped up on their laps. Doggy sleep-over!

misc stuff

I've decided that Angus's job is to be a dentist. He is always cleaning our teeth, mouth, and jowls. He does this after we eat, and whenever he gets it in his little pug brain that we need a dental check up. Does anyone else's sibling do this?
I on the other hand am a soccer star with the food bowls. I can send those bowls just flying across the room with one kick of my paw, it's just AWESOME I tell you..AWESOME!

We're still on baby watch, my human brother's baby is due in 8 days!!!!! Keep your paws crossed for a safe delivery and healthy baby.

I over-heard Mommy saying.....

that tomorrow she has the day off work! But then she went on to say that she was taking all four of us to get our nails done. UGH! Maybe she will let us look around Petsmart, buy us some treats/toys, and get admired by everyone. After all it's not everyday that someone gets to see four handsome pugs at the same time! I'll try to get Mommy to take some pictures tomorrow and post them to our blog.

starbursts

Mommy forgot to put her Sunday school bag up where we couldn't get into it last night. We found the bag of starburst candies in her bag that she had bought for her Sunday school class. We ate the entire bag of candies, wrappers and all! It was a doggie free for all! We even left the empty bag on Mommy's recliner for her. Mommy and Daddy are now calling me, Rufus, and Angus "the triad" because we are always together. This afternoon while they were at the movies we got into a box of matches. completely tore that box apart! They think that I was the one to get the matches from their spot under the tv.

Pug on drugs, new squeaky ball, and sitting by the fire

The first picture is after the "doggy downer" aka tranquilizer Pugsly took to get him thru the New Year's Eve fireworks. Mom only had to give him half a tablet....he's such a light weight! The rest of us didn't have to take our "doggy downers" until later that evening.

Pugsly and I had to go to the Vet for our well doggy exams. Pugsly now weighs 24 lbs and I weigh 25 lbs. The vet says I need to loose another pound, we both have ear infections again. The vet also said that the puppies need to stop cleaning our ears as it is contributing to the yeast infections in our ears. Thanks a lot Angus! Maybe we should cut you and Rufus a little slack since you are only 6 months old, right? Pugsly has a skin infection so he gets to wear the "cone of shame". He also has to take antibiotics which Mom and Popsie hide in pieces of ham, and since he get a piece of ham we all get a piece of ham. Thanks in advance for the 2 weeks of ham treatsies Pugsly!! One of Pugsly's labs came back elevated so they will probably need to be repeated or he will need to get an x-ray. Keep your paws crossed that everything comes back normal.
